Teams form to make bid on building $1B 'spy center'
It is team-building time for companies interested in constructing a $1 billion data center for the National Security Agency at Camp Williams. AIA's 2010 Institute Honor Awards for Architecture
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has selected the 2010 recipients of the Institute Honor Awards, the profession's highest recognition of works that exemplify excellence in architecture, interior architecture and urban design. Selected from over 700 total submissions, 28 recipients located throughout the world will be honored in June at the AIA 2010 National Convention and Design Exposition in Miami.

UVU science building given 'top priority' status at Legislature
Even in a tight budget year, lawmakers think they have a way to start construction on a new $50 million science building at Utah Valley University. The building is the top priority for the school, above even avoiding faculty furloughs. "I continue to expend considerable effort on this project, convinced it is our single greatest need at the moment," UVU President Matthew Holland said in his state of the university speech on Thursday.

Desolate malls, empty offices may come soon
Over the next several years, failed commercial real estate loans could litter American cities with empty stores and office complexes, cause hundreds of bank failures and weaken the economy, a watchdog report says. Banks face up to $300 billion in losses on loans made for commercial property and development, according to a report released Thursday by the Congressional Oversight Panel. The panel monitors the government's efforts to stabilize the financial system.
